

Pushkar is considered one of the holiest Hindu pilgrimage sites in Rajasthan. It is believed that a dip in the lake cleanses all sins and releases a person from the never ending cycle of birth and death. In fact, it is counted among the most important lakes in Rajasthan.
Unmatched in beauty and splendor, the Pushkar Lake in Rajasthan is surrounded by many temples, palaces and ghats that add to its beauty and appeal. Another interesting thing to note about the lake is the presence of floating “chhatris” at the center of the lake.
The annual Pushkar Fair that is held on the banks of the lake is a mega event that attracts visitors from all over the country and abroad. The Pushkar Lake boasts of around 52 ghats that connect the temples to its waters. Some of the famous ghats include the Brahma Ghat, Varah Ghat and the Gau Ghat.
Those visiting the Pushkar Lake in Rajasthan during the Karthik Poornima or the full moon phase of Oct / Nov will witness the mega phenomenon of thousands of pilgrims taking dips in the holy waters of the lake.
