Jantar Mantar in Jaipur is the most popular observatory constructed by Sawai Jai Singh. It is the largest astronomical observatories in the country. The monument has taken its name from mantra (instrument) and mantra (chanting). Initially known as Yantra Mantra, it comprises of 17 instruments. These devices or instruments are constructed on a large scale. In order to find the position of the Dhruva (Pole) star, the complex has the Dhruva Yantra. The Disha Yantra is pointed towards the north direction. Other yantras include Rashivalayas Yantra, Samrat Yantra, Kranti Yantra, Diganta Yantra, Ram Yantra, etc.
